The Hero’s Journey – the hero is faced with a quest, goes on a long journey, fights the villain, and comes back a hero. This is the typical arc that most stories follow. The heroines journey, on the other hand, is not usually the main focus of the story. The heroine doesn’t have a mentor like the hero does, and she is typically a “damsel in distress” who the hero saves. They are both tested, but the hero’s test is a much more physically and mentally demanding task than the heroine’s is. The hero’s journey is only a few more steps than the heroines, but they are the ones in the end who kill the bad guy and get the princess.
